Early Spring of 1968. One of my very earliest images is this simple study of a creek in SE Minnesota. The camera was my Kodak Duoflex. The film, Verichrome Pan. F/8 at 1/100th of a second. My inspiration was Eugene Atget. I had only seen his work in books from the library. I still love rocks, water, and trees.
Richard Lund entered the film industry in 1980. He did specialized photography making background pictures for motion pictures and television. He shot 8x10 plates for his first movie in Riverside California. The film was Buddy, Buddy directed by Billy Wilder and starring Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau. He printed the pictures with a crew on Kodak Translite film. Thus began his career. Personally he photographed large format images for 240 feature films and a lot of television. Additionally he supervised production of about two thousand background pictures. He originated the Chromatrans full color backgrounds, inventing the seaming process for this new style polyester based film. (The original Translites were black and white with color...
