Classy. The Grand Hotel stands today, but here is captured in the 1930s on a very special picture with the Cirkut Camera. Originally shot for the Shipman Process on a piece of film 8 inches by 24 inches. This image is part of Hollywood history. The archive of hundreds of these panoramas has only come to light recently and is being restored to view by Richard Lund.
Richard Lund entered the film industry in 1980. He did specialized photography making background pictures for motion pictures and television. He shot 8x10 plates for his first movie in Riverside California. The film was Buddy, Buddy directed by Billy Wilder and starring Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau. He printed the pictures with a crew on Kodak Translite film. Thus began his career. Personally he photographed large format images for 240 feature films and a lot of television. Additionally he supervised production of about two thousand background pictures. He originated the Chromatrans full color backgrounds, inventing the seaming process for this new style polyester based film. (The original Translites were black and white with color...
