Description
Die Hard was a series of adventure films starting Bruce Willis. This shot of Hope Street in Downtown Los Angeles (or DTLA as we say) came on a night when my professional life changed forever. For the fourth Die Hard, called Reset at the time of this shot, I needed to shoot from a scissor lift to match the height of the scene in a building four stories up. We also needed to shoot down an alley way. But the building did not have window access to that. So I used the lift. The wind was blowing a little and I could not get my 8X10 film camera to settle down enough for the time exposure. My new smaller technical camera with the digital back had no wind problems, so I used it. It was the last time for my 8X10. No more bellows. I left it at home in the case from that day forward. This shot was the one 90 degrees to the right.
