Shortly after going out on my own, Michael Riva called me and wanted a picture from Paris for the movie called North. I had already been to Alaska to the Prince William Sound for the film and camped out next a glacier. This time it was the City of Lights. One of the rare backgrounds that I shot on 4X5 film instead of 8x10. Just an accommodation to the equipment package that allowed me to shoot alone. Paris is always in my heart.
Richard Lund entered the film industry in 1980. He did specialized photography making background pictures for motion pictures and television. He shot 8x10 plates for his first movie in Riverside California. The film was Buddy, Buddy directed by Billy Wilder and starring Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau. He printed the pictures with a crew on Kodak Translite film. Thus began his career. Personally he photographed large format images for 240 feature films and a lot of television. Additionally he supervised production of about two thousand background pictures. He originated the Chromatrans full color backgrounds, inventing the seaming process for this new style polyester based film. (The original Translites were black and white with color...
